Streptamers®: fully reversible reagents for the selection of uncompromised, authentic cells
Cell biology is reliant on the investigation of unmanipulated and uncompromised cells. Unlike state-of-the-art receptor specific cell isolation procedures, the Streptamer® technology offers fully reversible reagents for magnetic cell isolation as well as for fluorescent cell staining. They not only show excellent staining intensities, but they can be removed from the cells by biotin (vitamin H) at low temperatures which results in the following advantages:
- no stimulation of cells after cell separation
- optimal preservation of cell effector function
- improved viability of cells
- high reproducibility

The Streptamer® technology allows both fluorescent staining as well as magnetic isolation of cells with reversible reagents. Virtually all eukaryotic cells can be selected with this technology. The reversible Streptamers® not only show excellent staining intensities, but they can be removed from the cells to optimally preserve cell effector function, making it a versatile platform, not only for basic research, but also for safe and efficient diagnostic use.

Fab-Streps or MHC-Streps are either combined with fluorescence- or bead-labeled Strep-Tactin® for cell staining or magnetic isolation, respectively. Biotin is offered as stock solution with the Streptamer® Solution Set which is used for removal of cell staining as well as cell isolation reagents. This modular reagent system enables the economic generation of multiple receptor- or antigen-specific staining and isolation reagents. All reagents can be purchased as single products or assembled in ready-to-use staining and isolation kits.
