Fundraising campaign "Kleine Rücken brauchen Hilfe"
More than 1,000 children with severe malformations of the spine are treated at the University Medical Center Göttingen. Children who suffer from strong deformities of the spine can often barely stand up unaided and only in pain. Without timely professional treatment these children may have to face a life in a wheelchair. Using state-of-the-art surgical procedures, many of these children can be helped and a better quality of life can be achieved. The small patients are often operated more than 20 times since birth. Only when the spine is fully grown, can it be permanently stiffened and thus stabilized in long term.
Children with complex spinal deformities from all over Germany as well as from abroad are treated in the University Medical Center Göttingen. All these children would benefit immensely from a new, gentler 3D X-Ray device. An innovative 3D device would also bring great improvements for small patients with other illnesses (such a Genu Varum).
