IBA GmbH, Göttingen has entered into a co-operation with the research group of Prof. Michael Ott at the Medical School, Hannover (MHH) in 2017. This is supported by a project grant from the NBank in Lower Saxony. The project is aiming at developing tools and products using IBA’s innovative Fab-TACS® cell isolation technology for the separation of individual liver cell populations. IBA’s cell isolation technology is already well established for human blood cells, and the present cooperation represents its first application to solid organ cell separation.
Based on the longstanding competence of Prof. Ott’s group focusing on liver research and the translation of results from basic research to clinical applications, the project may ultimately help in reconstituting a fully functional liver. The cooperation, which is led by Dr. Andrea Jochheim-Richter of IBA GmbH, was initiated by Prof. Ott and IBA’s founder Dr. Herbert Stadler, and according to Dr. Joachim Bertram, Managing Director and CSO of IBA, underlines the commitment of Dr. Stadler to the future of the company in its 3rd decade.
